IASIS Healthcare Receives Ascent Healthcare Solutions2008 Healthy Hospital Gold Award

Award Recognizes Outstanding Performance in Maximizing Savings and Minimizing Environmental Impact Through Remanufacturing/Reprocessing Single-use Devices

FRANKLIN, TN — April 21, 2009 — IASIS Healthcare® LLC today announced it has been awarded the 2008 Healthy Hospital Gold Award by Ascent Healthcare Solutions, a leader in delivering healthcare resource sustainability. Ascent’s Healthy Hospital Gold Award recognizes hospitals and hospital networks that have achieved outstanding sustainability results in terms of supply cost savings and reducing their environmental impact through remanufacturing/reprocessing. In 2008, IASIS’ participation in this program reduced supply costs by $1,031,763, an increase of more than $340,000 in savings from 2007, and kept an impressive 24,777 pounds out of local landfills.

The commitment by IASIS to partner with Ascent to truly optimize the benefits of the program was also noted as a key factor in winning the award. To maximize savings, IASIS dedicated key resources to ensure that its hospitals were aware of all opportunities to use Ascent’s program in operating rooms and electrophysiology labs and educated on the value of these programs.

IASIS’ outstanding performance in reducing environmental waste and improving overall hospital quality through medical device remanufacturing and reprocessing has provided its member hospitals with valuable financial savings that have been redirected toward important patient care initiatives.

David R. White, chairman and chief executive officer of IASIS Healthcare, said, “IASIS’ commitment to implementing innovative programs that promote high quality patient care combined with the sustainability and economical feasibility of Ascent’s reprocessing and remanufacturing solution makes for a great partnership.”

“The Ascent remanufacturing/reprocessing program realizes the simultaneous demands for better resource utilization and more green practices,” said Kevin Liszewski, Ascent’s vice president of corporate accounts. “As a Healthy Hospital Gold Award Winner, IASIS demonstrates a strong practice in effective resource management and bringing sustainability to healthcare, and we are proud to partner with them in their efforts.”

Liszewski added, “The Healthy Hospital Gold Award underscores the importance of looking at how hospital resources are used and optimizing resources to enable hospitals to be environmentally responsible – all while reducing supply costs to improve the overall quality of patient care.”
