Animal Supply and Summit Pet Join Forces

SEATTLE, WA — January 7, 2013 — Animal Supply Company announced today that Greensboro, North Carolina based Summit Pet Product Distributors has joined forces with Animal Supply Company. Jay Joyce, President of Summit Pet, and Mike Copeland, Senior Vice President of Summit Pet, as well as all of the managing partners will become equity investors in Animal Supply. Mr. Joyce will join Animal Supply’s board of directors and will continue to direct Summit’s operations as its President. Following the closing of the acquisition, Summit Pet will continue to operate under the Summit Pet name and be led by its current management team. Transaction terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition further enables the combined company to offer its customers and manufacturers unmatched value-added services, breadth of products and geographic reach, with operational consistency across the platform. The combined business will now cover 30 states, represent over 300 pet product manufacturers and deliver to more than 5,000 pet retail stores.

On November 8, 2012 Animal Supply completed the acquisition of Schertz, Texas-based Lone Star Pet Supply, expanding its coverage into Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. Further, on December 14, 2012 Animal Supply completed the acquisition of the California operations of Zeus Pet, based in Commerce, California, completing its coverage in the Western United States.
